Temple of Kom Ombo

Standing on high ground overlooking the Nile River, this unique temple differs from other temples because of its double entrance, each dedicated to a specific deity: Haroeris, the falcon-headed god, and Sobek, the crocodile-headed god. The temple was built in honor of the two deities Sobek, god of fertility and creator of the world, and Haroeris (Horus the Elder). The area is also well known for its vast sugar cane fields.
